How do I get my voice out there?

I've been told i'm a great singer and decent song writer, but I don't know how to get my voice out there for others to listen to. i've been in Canton Idol and made it to the semi-finals last year, and im trying again this year. But i don't know about demos or the major industry... i'd really like to go into the New Age genere. Like Never Shout Never or A Rocket to the Moon... please, if you have any ideas, help me out...
