GUYS: im confused why hasent he asked me out?

me and my ex dated for about a year we hangout like almost every weekend we hungout yesterday & talked foreverrr about us. he was telling me how much he loved me & nothing will ever change that & he wants nothing but to make me smile and whole lot more after he left he texted me sayin he loved me i really wanna be with him so why wont he ask me out again if he says that & he texts me likeveryday & always wanting to hangout. ? weve hadnt had sex sinde we brokeup. so what should i do i know he cares for me alot but why hasent he asked me out again. ?
