My boyfriend wont show me affection unless I ask or if he wants to have sex?

I know he loves me but he says he has a hard tim showing his feelings. Weve been dating since nov 2009 so this is really starting to bother me. What should I do? How can I get him to show me affection like he used to at the beginning of our relationship?
